PCS7 Block icons update during compliation

ILYAZ Posts: 27 Rating: (1)	Dear all. i am facing a few small problems in PCS7 v 7.0.Every time i complie my OS it create and updates block icons automtically.As i donot need to update block icons every time. Also i am not getting the option to unckeck creat/update block icon in compilation window.Is there any method so that block icons are not updated automatically during OS compilation.? Second problem is regarding error/fault OBs e.g OB 121,122 OB 85 etc.These OBs get deleted during CFC complitation with a message that insert these OBs in automatic block generation.WHY? how to insert them .Please explain the correct method. Fatso Posts: 168 Rating: (6)	Hi About your first question i can think of two ways to turn off block icon update,first in simatic manager on your OS right click on each picture to see the object properties then click on the tab 'Block Icons' and untick the check box.The second way is to open the CFC with the block and on the object properties untick the check box 'Create block icons'. As for the error OBs when you are compiling the CFCs on the dialog box that comes up is the 'Generate Module drivers' Box Checked ? and on the 'block Driver settings' tab make sure the PCS7 library is selected,if it is All the necessary OBs should be created automatically.For further details refer toOS Configuration Manual.

Concerning OBs: The solution which Fatso suggest is right, it makes addition of driver blocks to all signal processing blocks and OB_BEGIN/OB_END blocks which use the most of diagnostic OBs. But if you don't use the driver blocks or would like to use another OBs (I had the same in one project) the solution is different. Normally the empty OBs are deleted while compilation even if it was user created. So youcan write some instruction inside your OBs, for example BE is adequate. But consider this: if you later use some block which has S7_tasklist defined to include this block in your OBs or you put some block into these OBs in CFC than you'll get an error while compilation so you have to delete the OBand run compilation again.

I'm not sure if I well understand what exactly you're asking for, but in that project there were no driver blocks. The OB40 was needed for HW int. also all the OB8x and OB121&OB122. Some of them were created by CFC compiler, the others I had to create manualy to prevent the CPU from stopping while some fault.

Was it because it was a project in an older version or was it a migration project from an old version etc.? If you are using PCS7 with Siemens I/O, I could not envisage a situation where it is advantageous not to use the channel drivers. Just curious and thanks anyway. Regards, Phantom
