I have a HMI (TP1200 Comfort) and a PLC (CPU 1513-1 PN) that I want to connect to a customers network so they can have Remote access using Sm@artServer. I have a LAN cable between PLC port x2 and HMI port x1, so that there is connection between them.

Can I just connect my costumers network to PLC port x1 or HMI port x2, and then change the IP-address for both the PLC and HMI so it is the same as my customers network?

As far as I can read, both the PLC and HMI have ethernet interface.

the CPU 1513-1 PN has only "X1" and here X1 P1 and X1 P2.

Means, the CPU has only one PN- interface ("X1") with a 2-Port Switch. The same on HMI.
So it is equal, if you are connect on P1 or P2.

But if I use a switch between the PLC and network, the two things still need to get the same IP-address for them to communicate. So that will give the same result if I just use the switch on the PLC or HMI?

Usualy the S7-1500 PLCs are able to use routing so you can use the PLC As router.

You have to set the Router/Gateway Adress in the Panel´s IP Config to the PLC. And also use the router/Gateway Adress in the PLC for the other PLC Interface. but the PLC has to have two independent Interfaces, not only a switched one.

I´m not 100% sure if the Smart Server access over ports 5800 and 5900 works also with PLC routing but HMI connecitons and HMI Project Transfer works in such a configuration with PLC as router.
