Other problem with Step7 v. 5.6 and updated Windows 10: if you try to open the simulator, it opens and, after few seconds, it closes itself.

Then it is not possible to use the simulator. Someone has any suggestions? Thank.

I found the same problem

my spec
Windows 10 64bit pro
Step 7 v5.6 no hotfix (i can't find it)
PLCSim v5.4 sp8 
WinCC 7.4 sp1

when i open the PLCSim at the CPU windows it not show the led light (every lamp)
but in Step7 it can download program to CPU.
And when i close PLCsim in Step7, it shows connection loss.
But in the PLCSim can't simulate anything
PG/PG in PLCsim (dropdown list ) all of them shows Grey:Grey color

[SOLVED] by re-install PLCsim v5.4 sp8 
and in my opinion problem occurred because WinCC installation.
because it works properly before installed wincc

My specifications:
Windows 10 PRO, 64 bits, v. 1803, build 17134.112
Step 7 PRO v. 5.6 HF1
S7-PLCSIM v 5.4 SP8
TIA Portal v 14 SP1

I tried to start Step 7 as administrator, I tried to restore the whole installation of Step 7, I tried to uninstal and re-instal Step 7 but without results. Simulator opens and, after few seconds closes and forces the interface PG/PC on "PLCSIM.TCPIP.1" even if I had choosen before "PLCSIM.MPI.1".

Any suggestions?

Hello,

go back to Windows 10 build 1703.

The build 1709 and 1802 are not compatible with Step7.

Also don't use the option "run as administrator" for Simatic Manager, this is no allowed and can cause some problems.

I had the same problem and it was solved with this procedure.

I installed the Step 7 5.6 Hotfix 5

Then reinstall PLCSIM 5.4 SP8
