sfa Posts: 70 Rating: (3)	Hi - I've installed the SP4 and found a new feature of which I'm not quite sure how to use :-) I'm talking about the new update menu which can be found in the about window from the drop down menu (help/abaout) in the manager. (see first pict.) The problem is that I get an error stating that I need to restart the manager (what I have done quite a number of times since the update to SP4). To tell you which licences needed, kindly tell us the simatic installed software and also the installed licences on your PC station. Regards

Actually a UCL license But do you know what I could do in the update menu - I guess that it's a kind of checking tool for finding updates to installed sw ? - But that should hardly be affected by a license ? I belive that Siemens would benifit from users upgrading from 5.3 to 5.4 because they installed 5.4. ? I receive aDVD a couple of times a year from Simens update service with new versions of step7. It`s there to reload the standard seettings I guess since with SP4 it`s possible to have a special user´group. But I`m not sure about it. The help doesn`t tell you anything about it. It´s not a problem with your license because it`s not an error message. It`s just an information that you need to restart Step 7 to activate the menu update.

tomearp Posts: 51 Rating: (3)	as INS says it's not an error.... my interpretation of it is to literally update the menus and their structures in simatic manager. i would imagine you might need to use this function after installing some add-on or utility for step 7 that might make new menu items available to you. or maybe it's something only intended to be used by the developers and shouldn't have actually made it into the final build. there appears to be no mention of it an any of the help documentation.

We are now working with Step 7 v5.5 and still the "Update Menu" asks for a restart of Step 7 Manager over and over again?
