Dear All Experts,

Our one of the customer has SEW motor which has an enocder of "Absolute type SSI protocol"

Now I want to know where this enocder will be connected :-

1) To control unit directly (CU250S-2,CU310-2,CU320-2)

2) Whether we have to use any SMC module

3) CUA32 is it possible.

Also encoder power supply for SEW is 24V

We are facing problem in configuring that enocder with our drive . Please help

Th encoder name  they have given is AV1Y but there is some confusion in this actually , in one manual they have mentioned encoder type as Absolute SSI , and if I read manual of AV1Y seperately they have written encoder type as - 

Now the problem is that S120 side the type mentioned is only Absolute SSI but no combination with Vpp sin/cos and this is the reason we atre not able to give demo as our system is not able to show encoder value.

Can you please suggest which module in this case will work for such combination of Encoder.

Looks like the motor's encoder is incompatible with the existing interface modules. In the manual you can find that SSI and sin/cos are possible but for 5 Vdc encoders.

Try to send the Support Request. Maybe they have some solution easier than replacing the encoder.

I have already given support request and asked , they said they will be checking .

Also regarding 5V  I want to say that in SMC30 there is a selection for voltage and in even manual they have specified that it works for both 5v and 24v .

There is a parameter in which we can select 1 or 2 for 5v and 24v respectively.

So should we try once with SMC 30??
