PCS7 / WinCC reporting

thn Posts: 15 Rating: (0)	Hi all! Just registered for this forum and I must say thanks to all of you! I've had many useful tips just by browsing threads. I'm doing my thesis work about reporting possibilities for Simatic PCS 7 / WinCC. We have 2 OS with 2 Batch-servers, 1 dead"OS Client" PC for saving tag data (temperatures, dosages etc.) and 1 ES. The OS Client is dead so possibly we get a new PC or start using a virtual server in our intranet. What we need is a way to collect tag data (around 350 tags) and archive it for later use, which is comparing for example a ruined batch and a successful batch. The ideal way would be if we could have the data as a spreadsheet so that we could form charts and trends from the tag data we choose. We're wondering if we could get the data from WinCC / PCS 7 using OPC Server. I believe that's the cheapest way? We're also considering using the Central Archive Server. I really don't know where to start here, so if You have any ideas / tips for a rookie it would make me a very grateful man!

For Excel communication with WinCC using OPC have a look at the following set of FAQ's: WinCC -- Configuring and programming communication -- Programming and connecting OPC clients Also, there is this WinCC Data Monitor Add On option worth looking at: WinCC/DataMonitor

zerepegro Posts: 183 Rating: (8)	Hi! PM OPEN EXPORT is too a good choice for execution of exporting jobs under circumstances you set. It creates a CSV or several CSV files for each export job.

thn Posts: 15 Rating: (0)	Hello again! Phantoms DataMonitor would've been perfect... Too bad we have v6.0 which doesn't support that one... There will be version updatesin a year or two so maybe then.The StoragePlus is our number two option. Number one solutionis goingto be retrieving tag data values in cycles using scripts and creating spreadsheets. We have suppressed the amount of tags to less than one hundred andcategorized them by retrieve cycles (i.e. 2s, 10s, 5min). Don't know much of the specifics yet but maybe I'll be a bit wiser when the script maker from Siemens comes to check things out. But to ease his load I should create archive parameters out of those to-be-retrieved-tags... In other words we have a bunch of tags of which some are archived (we can examine trends since it has Tag Connection) and some are not archived. I know that the archiving should be performed in the following way: 1) Configure wanted I/O-parameter to be archived in the CFC 2) OS Compile 3) Download (Changes Only?) The problem is that I have NO experience using PCS 7 so it's a bit challenging. Any tips with or without screenshots? Sorryforbothering you with these rookie questions... Best Regards Tommi
