makaveli Posts: 259 Rating: (5)	Hi, I have question about Step 5 v 7.23. When you instal this software you can chose between three LPT port. It is possible communicate with RS232 port. Other things - I have Windows XP when I instal Step 5 I choose compatibility with Windows but still something is wrong. When I try click Start->Simatic->Step5->Step5.exe only black dos windows appears and after few second is disappear and nothing happens. What can be wrong i have Windows XP 32bit.... and i read in faq that my Step 5 version work with my Windows... Any ideas. With regards, makaveli

makaveli Posts: 259 Rating: (5)	Someone have any ideas....I try it on few diffrent computers with WinXP Sp2 and even with SP3 but still resutls is the same: Dos windows appear for few seconds and then vanish and nothing happend. With regards, makaveli

Simaticus Posts: 262 Rating: (24)	Hi makaveli, just starting the exe won't work -> marcjan. Creating an icon through the properties of S5.exe won't work, either. The easiest way is to copy "S5" from "start menu" to the desktop. Pls check in advance if you can start Step5 from start menu. Good luck
