BAF-FAULT IN PS407

The powersupply is working fine when the BATT switch position in off.... When i change the switch position to 1 BATT or 2 BATT it is showingBAF fault... What may be the problem ? In the mean time if i will switch off the power supply meansthere is nodata in the plc and then again i have to reload the program in both plcs...

dchartier Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 11/7/2024 Posts: 12293 Rating: (2691)	Hello samkcr; Here is some initial info on your problem, from the S7-400 Hardware and Installation manual: If the red BAF LED and one of the yellow LEDs (BATTF or BATT1F or BATT2F) light up on the power supply module, check the backup battery/batteries, the setting of the BATT INDIC switch, or read the section on controls and indicators ofthe power supply modules in Chapter 3 of the Reference Manual, Module Specifications This last manual can be found here: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/19539653 Also, look at the few paragraphs on the external power jack attached below. We used a standard 9 volt battery connected to a commercial audio jackto power the RAM of the CPU while playing with the batteries. Bhaskaran Posts: 107 Rating: (13)	Hi ! Are you not seeing EXTF led in CPU?????? You have to change the batteries. After repalcing the batteries you switch the batterie indicator switch to OFF once and then to the setting you would like to have. You can use OB81 to evaluate the error

Mujahid Chougule Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	That means your batteries are damaged or emptied or reverse polarised. Switching Off the Selector switch means that, if any of battery fails; you will not get LED indication for that. Try to replace them as soon as possible.Otherwise if there is power loss; you will loose your program from the CPU Memory.
