For the moment we have some clients where we give remote support. Mostly by Clients choice they use the eWON or Helmholz 3G routers (or wired). With them you log into a website and are able to setup a VPN connection rather easy and safe. 

But recently with all those (cheaper) devices, they use that "TAP-9 Windows Adapter" and it doesn't allways work fine. 

So I'm looking for an alternative and came accross the SCALANCE M876-4. It has 4G and VPN functionallity but like always, Siemens documentation isn't very clear, and I don't have much experience with this.

Reading the docs, it is possible to create a VPN tunnel, but it's not clear to me how? For example, for the eWON routers, it uses the software "eCatcher" to create the connection on the Client side.

So:

1. Does the Scalance come with "clientside" software to be installed to build up the VPN connection. If yes, where can I find this?

2. Can you have more then one VPN connection at the same time? eWON's and others are always only one connection at the time.

In the docs that I found it's described to build up a continues VPN tunnel between two routers. But we need a more "call in" connection. The clients only connect ones a day for 10 minutes to check the PLC and HMI. Because of 4G and a mobile network, we want to keep the used data as low as possible.

Or do you know another Siemens router as alternative for an eWON?

Apparently you will need the software SINEMA Remote Connect. Which is not free off course.
