Why does my Add/remove select button not work in my simatic manager?

I cant add or remove interfaces.

Any ideas?

do you work on a Windows 7 System?
If yes then the interfaces are installed plug&play and the add/remove had no function.

Why you need this?

Thanks for the answer, I do work with windows 7, I did not know that this was a feature with this OS.

I was trying to select this PC adapter I am trying to use, but maybe I dont need to.

So it should just come up as a selection once I plug it in?

Hi,

the Adapter should first detected in Windows as new device and the driver should be installed.
You can check this in the Windows Device Manager.

After that the interface should be displayed in the PG/PC Interface list.

Is there default settings in the properties tab for MPI that will work if I dont know address or transmission rate, Highest station address and timeout? Will it let me pull off the blocks without these set right?

I would imagine that these need to be set up to match the existing plc?

Can I search the system to find the correct settings?

Hello,

you can use the PC Adapter.Auto and search for Network parameters.

If no Parameters found then you must try all the settings until you find the devices.
