Since your the only one responding to my questions, I was hoping you could answer me this question as well if you have the time.

I am trying to get a copy of our project that we have on a large automation project. I am hoping to be able to pull the project off the plc. I haven't had much luck getting all the blocks off and hoping what you told me already helps me do that.

I was informed that I wouldn't get the hardware config doing it this way, which is not ideal but I should get all the blocks and can piece together where everything is on my own?

Will I be able to pull the project off this way?

Will I have to go around to all of the small cabinets with s7-300's in them to get each one or if I connect ot the main (2) cabinets of s7-400's, will those come with as well.

Just curious what to expect if anything.

How else would I be able to get this project off the PLC?

Hello,

it should be no problem to get the HWConfig.

Create a new empty project in Simatic manager, open HWConfig (S7hwcnfx.exe), click the Upload button, select the project and the PLC and then the HWConfig is uploaded.

After that you can switch to Simatic manager and upload the blocks from the PLC.

This should be no problem.

You can try to connect to a central point an upload all Stations, this depends on the wiring of the plant.

Christoph, Thanks for the advice.

So just so I am understanding you.

So right now, I dont have any hardware config to open up, I do have access to the panel and can make my own hardware config in a new project.

So after doing that, If I do what your suggesting, I should be able to upload the all the details to my exisiting hardware config? Will that give me the right settings and the right addresses because I done know what those are either?

Do I need to worry about problems when uploading the hardware config to my new project? It wont save it in the system correct? I dont want to cripple the system if I do something wrong. :)

So If I go to PLC, then upload in hardware config, select project, Is there an easy way to select node address when I have zero info on that?

Can I see that info somewhere or do I manually input that? Same with MPI address? Can I just select view tab and see accessible nodes at that point?

you need no hwconfig to open.

creat a empty step7 project, start the exe i named and then upload

You cann search for accessible nodes in HWConfig in the Upload and upload the devices which are found.
