This includes getting your hands of the slave's gsd file and integrating it in the Profibus configuration software of the master (HWConfig for a S7 PLC). But each DP-slave has its own requirements in the amount and type of data it will exchange with the DP-master, and that can only be found out in the slave's manuals, which you as a programmer need to study and understand. I suggest you also have a look at the Motoman site for more details of your controller and profibus communication. Motoman Netherlands did help me a lot with RS485 (not profibus) communication,try your local rep they might even have a Step7 example. Regards, Marcjan

I have a DX100 controler with a card for profibus communication and a siemens plc. I downloaded a gsd file and now I need to know how can a communicate via profibus. thanks

dchartier Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 1/16/2026 Posts: 12481 Rating: (2722)	Hello avtel; Our friend Milosh found an easy solution for the integration of a new gsd file in TIA Portal: How to install GSD file on tia v11 The gsd file inserted in a S7-1200 PLC is used so the drive (or node of any kind) can be used as a Profibus-DP slave . However, a glance in the Yaskawa Motorman site shows that the available Profibus interface for the DX100 controller is as a remote I/O extension, the drive being a Profibus-DP master. What interface do you have on your DX100, and is it used as master or slave? Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier
