Good morning, sribs97, with a diagnostic repeater line diagnostics is possible. More information, you find in the manual http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/de/7915183/0/en Greetings, Pittiplatsch |

First check that the network is correctly terminated , the terminating resistors on the plugs should only be switched on at the first and last nodes i.e where the plugs have only one cable inserted. One simple test if you are using the standard plugs with switchable terminating resistors is to start by switching the terminating resistor on at the plug in the middle of the network , if the BF light goes out the fault is after the plug , if not it is before the plug. Continue this procedure until the faulty connection is found Probably the best way to physically check a Profibus cable is to use the Siemens BT200 tester , which will test for Cable A/B breaks , cable A/B being swopped , cable shield breaks and incorrect terminations etc. The link will take you to information on the tester http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/19550810?Datakey=25534265 If you don't have access to a tester the attachment shows how to make a pair of test connectors and test the cable using an ohmmeter AttachmentProfibusResistance test.pdf (758 Downloads) |
