Time Synchronization among S7-300 PLCs via ethernet network

Both parties have INTERFACE PLC to communicate with each other. both parties have diffrent IP addresses range (they are not in same network). we want to impelement time synchronization among all PLCs via ethernet network. So i wonder being on diffrent network would it possible to achive time synchronization? If any one have come accross these or any one have have a any ideaplease help me! With Regards Rahul

When they are all on MPI for example then you may define one Master and the other Slaves for the time and you could synchronize all CPU's, seeTime synchronization in the SIMATIC environment via MPI-Subnets In the FAQ is some explanition about the CPU clock synchronisation Time synchronization in the CPUs If several CPU's are linked together you may synchronise them as in the next FAQ How can you synchronize CPU clocks with each other Time synchronisation over Ethernet is explained in the next FAQ How can you set the time of an S7-300 via Industrial Ethernet There is also the SIMATIC Time Synchronisation and the NTP Time Synchronisation, see How can you synchronize time-of-day in SIMATIC mode via Industrial Ethernet Please consider that only newer CP343-1 CP's may understood the time-synchronisation. So now you have something to read about time synchronisation.

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear Rahul, the thing is if both PLC groups are placed in the same physical (switched) Network than you could use the SIMATIC based procedure to set the Time, this uses the MAC Address and is therefore independent from the used IP Addresses. If you have separated Networks you will have to use 2 Time Sync Masters like NTP Servers. Best regards J_Bell

So it means as we have separated network. it is the only options to use NTP server. As i am new in this can you please explain me how it can be implemented? How can I synchronize the SIMATIC S7-300/S7-400 using the NTP time-of-day synchronization mode? i understood this document good enough. How do you configure a PC as NTP server?. i followed this document and set my computer according to that to set my PC as NTP server.but how would i know my computer is setup now as NTP server?. where i can find the IP address of NTP server? with regards, Rahul
