Does this need to be done online to the controller as the fields are greyed out at the moment as I am offline. |

Hello, Changes in Hw.config is done in offline mode.As the fields are in black for S7-300 ,so you need CPU in STOP mode to download the changes.For your problem regarding "fields are greyed out at the moment", You should select the protection level 3 as shown in the attachment.This protect your final project inside PLC for unauthorized access.
