Take a look at this thread - second post: /tf/WW/en/Posts/75807#top The use of the AT overlay allows you to have your structure as the IN of an FB, and the byte/word/dword as the OUT of your FB -- and the other way around too.

Almost as if you have * MD100 * MW100 .. MW102 * MB100 .. MB103 * M100.0 .. M103.7 If you want to have MD100 >> "MD104" so you can use MW104 and MW106 then that is different. Is that what you want? You will have to write coding for it. Such code block is somewhere in this forum. What PLC are you using? If it is not a S7-1200, then other methods are possible. w

It matters where you put the AT. You may have to delete and then add the structure again. When I add the AT overlay, I have the structure collapsed, then add the byte/word/dword (it must be the same size or smaller than the structure. For the datatype, enter AT and press enter. The AT shifts to the left and then you add the correct datatype. Let's say your structure is 8 bools. (\|>collapsed) Bits8 : structure Insert row above next item in interface ByteOfBits8 : AT <enter> now enter in BYTE as datatype This works in FB, not FC (except as TEMP) Check the documentation for where the AT overlay works for your PLC family and choose the one that suits your needs.

Add your remaining 14 bits to the structure, and change your AT tag's datatype to word.
