trying to configure a high speed counter (HSC) without a signal board

MikeN Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hello, I have a PLC S7-1200, 1214C, AC/DC/Rly, V4.0.0 and Step 7 Basic software, V13. I am trying to configure a high speed counter (HSC) without a signal board. I have a simple program, a CTRL_HSC, and error 80A1, hardware identifier of HSC invalid. In the Device Overview HSC_1 says "Slot" 116 which I take to be a hardward identifier. In the Device Configuration, Properties tab, the Hardward identifier is 257. I cannot change either of these "identifiers"? I am just learning the Siemens PLC (I am very familier with Allen Bradly and PLC. Sehr Gut Deutschland. Mike

0_Einstein Grandmaster Joined: 7/7/2010 Last visit: 12/23/2025 Posts: 16325 Rating: (2520)	The hardware HSC must be enabled first. After that, use the tag table system constants to choose the hardware address.
