Data Acquisition of current temperature from RTD to MS Excel and plotting of data

ankurgajjar Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	Hi Everyone! I am newbie to Siemens PLC (I have worked on OMRON, Allen Bradley and Twincat previously.) Now, in my case, I have interfaced the two wire RTD with S7-300 series PLC and I obtain the current temperature in some memory word address. Now, my problem is that how can I store this temperature data at predefined time interval in MS Excel? (or is there any other way to store the data at predefined time interval?). Also, is it possible to plot these values against time axis somehow? I will be grateful to you people if you can help me out. P.S. : I have idea about programming in OB but not much familiar with FB,FC and DB. Regards, Ankur Gajjar

eisenpferdreiter Posts: 1058 Rating: (93)	hello ankurgajjar, normally this is done in HMI. Do you have a HMI there and which software you use for it? if you use WinCC flexible you will find that information in the manual In section 10.2 search for logging tags. regards

ankurgajjar Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	Dear Sir, I know that this type of work is generally done in HMI but I do not have HMI for this particular problem and I want to obtain the data the way I described in either MS Excel or Access (want to prepare some sort of database) and want to plot the graph of variable against time (by any means).

But: If you are interested in C# and Visual Studio, you can try to use: http://snap7.sourceforge.net/ For communication with PLC to store data I use Matlab and TCP connection. Matlab is TCP server and PLC is a client. I tranfser data from PLC to Matlab against request and then store data from Matlab to excel file to make graphs. I am also able to make graphs in Matlab anyway Regards.

However, I would like to know that is it possible to generate graph as well as excel datasheet by means of WinCC Runtime Flexible or S7graph (for trends only) ? Besides, can you provide me some links or material on how to establish connection between PLC and MATLAB and obtain the data inside MATLAB? I will be grateful if you can do so. On Matlab side I use TCP object: http://www.mathworks.com/help/instrument/creating-a-tcpip-object.html On PLC side I use TCP connection... See attached picture.
