I have tried to use the Read Clock block but the problem is, that block's output also contains the current date. I only need the current time. What PCS7 blocks do I need to use for this particular case? How am I going to compare the current time to the specified time of day above (0800H and 1600H)? Hope to hear from you guys. Rescobedo Silver Member Joined: 11/5/2012 Last visit: 8/14/2025 Posts: 490 Rating: (65)	Hello, you can use SFC1 to read clock then use FC8 to extract the TIME_OF_DAY from DATE_AND_TIME data types. FC8 from Standat library DT_TOD. Input is DATE and time format and the Return Value is in TIME OF DAY format. Or remember that DATE and Time data type is composed by 8 bytes. Byte 3 stores the hour and the posible values are 00 to 23. Then acces to the Byte 3 from DATE AND TIME and compare it. Something like: //============================================= Call SFC1 Ret_Val =#Error //Int data type (2 bytes length) CDT =#DateAndTime //DATE_AND_TIME data type (8 bytes length) Nop 0 //============================================== // Then in your temp variables you have word 0 is for #Error and #DateAndTime //is 8 bytes long starting from byte 2. So LB 5 would contain the hour. //============================================== L LB 5 //This byte contains the hour // now compare it. //============================================== Remember that Hour possible values are from 00 to 23. We dont have compare bytes block so what I did is converting the bytes value into intger and comparing it using CMP_I (compare integer block). The problem now is that the converted value is not equal to the original time value. i.e. 0800H byte value is 8 when I converted it to Integer, the value is not 8. Any idea sir? Thanks

Fist one is using the EQ_DT block from PCS7. The problem is that I wasnt able to capture the moment when DT1 and DT2 are equal. I think the occurence time is too fast. I've tried using a R_TRIG connected to a RS flipflop to capture that particular moment but it doesnt work. Any idea on this? Any special case programming with the EQ_DT block? Second program is comparing the Hour: Minutes and seconds byte separately. Im having some problem with the Word to integer converter, it doesnt have the same input and output. The output value differs from the input. What I need is numerical value from its origin (byte). I tried to find byte and word comparators but unfortunately PCS7 doesnt have this kind of blocks. If you see the byte in binary you have: 0100 _ 0000 tens ones num 4 num 0 I think PCS7 should havea BTI (BCD to integer) converter. You can try using that and the values should match. If you try to convert from word to int you get 4(16^1) + 0(16^0) = 64 Using the BCD to integer you will get those 40 mins in Decimal format. I hope I was clear and this information help you. Edited. By the way this is the Step7 / Stap7 lite forum not Process Control Systems PCS7. I have no experience with PCS7 but I'll try to help if i can.

hdhosseini Diamond Expert Joined: 1/28/2009 Last visit: 12/25/2025 Posts: 6885 Rating: (1368)	Just to add a small point, If you are using PCS 7,You normally should work in CFC.Easily, write a function block in LAD/STL/FBD and perform the same logic.Consider inputs and outputs you want.Select the FB number that doesn't conflict with the rest of FBs coming from PCS 7 libraries and copy it to Blocks folder.Now import the FB in CFC editor and enjoy using this(sure get rid of complexity of CFC logic implementing).
