USS and S7-400 to communicate with MM4 drives

KayBee Posts: 241 Rating: (7)	saud It is possible to use USS protocol with CPU 31x-2PTP. These CPUs have RS485 serial port on board. There are FBs available for USS and Modbus communication using the onboard port of these CPUs. Here are the sample projects and documentation for USS. I also have files for Modbus drivers. Let me know if anyone needs it. Saud Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	I have not seen any prewritten blocks for S7-400 CP441 but I am sure it is possible. You have to look at the USS telegram and define it in S7. Here is the telegram structure for USS. // 02 Start of message (STX).// 12 Length of message (LGE) (12 bytes)with the MicroMaster (from AA to// BCC).// ADR Device number address (In this Demo the Drive is 1,OR 32 FOR BROADCAST)// PKE High byte used for parameter control.// PKE Low byte// IND High byte used for Array index word// IND Low byte // PWE High byte used for param. values and error codes.// PWE Low byte // PZD1 High byte used for control/status word// PZD1 Low byte // PZD2 High byte used for main set-point and return values. // PZD2 Low byte// BCC Block Checksum

Instead I ordered the Profibus module for the MM4 - I was up and communicating with the drive in 15 minutes. Probably the only thing I had to think much about was which telegram I wanted to use. I needed accurate RPM and current sensing on both drives - it worked very well for what I wanted to do. I know there is a block for controlling the Micromaster via Profibus.
