William_B Posts: 5225 Rating: (1204)	Hi. The term you are looking for is IEC-check. The help provided in TIA will provide full details to what that means exactly. Something that you need to remember is that this "IEC-check" is done code block for code block. You can also select to have all blocks be created by default to a preset setting. The global setting will only be applied to new blocks. Please view the attached file. #1 indicates where in in code block properties you can reach the setting. In your case you will use this for the blocks already created. #2 however show you where to deactivate this function for all future use. Please allow me to ask - why do you want to do this? Please consider that you do have type converting blocks. The IEC way of doing things is tough for us older users, but it might be a good idea to adapt to it. Dear William, unfortunately, I know already about IEC Check and it is (already by default) disabled for general and for the block also. I try to copy a DB10 to DB20 by using "READ_DBL"(former SFC83) Just have a look at screenshoot. Working fine in STL, not working in FBD. I know this behavior already from Step7 classic, but the solution (type check disable) is not given... Helpful would be a solution... Attachment Typen.jpg (391 Downloads)

I have tried to replicate your problem on a CPU317. - DB10 contains x2 WORDs - DB20 contains x4 BYTEs At the SRCBLK input the full ANY pointer marker.. P#DB10.DBX0.0 BYTE 4 IEC-check is on and the compiler has no issue. Try to write out the ANY pointer and see if it works for you. Greetings. w

But this way is quite uncomfortable because the ANY pointer has to be changed every time, the DB size changed. Also, there is no symbolic view any more (also strange, Step7 classic will also show pointer as symbol) So I prefer only DB as address but use STL instead of FBD.. I am pretty sure, that this behavior is just another bug in this damned TIA.

Calling code blocks in STL has been the best way from the languages - I do miss this in the S7-1200. It is not that difficult to adapt the ANY pointer if you use the method smiffy suggests. Have you tested that the STL code actually does what you need from it and not just copy the first byte? With TIA you should not assume this does the same as before. Cheers. w

I have noticed that the instruction has a version number attached to it. It makes me wonder what they have changed.. and when was the changes done. You can also change the version number.. did you see?
