Replacement IM153-1

Emmerson Fonito Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Dear all experts, I'm new to Siemens (I'm coming from Schneider's world). In my plant we have an S7-400 driving some IM153-1 with differents modules. Two week ago we got a error and a red led blinking on the IM153-1 the error in the manual (translated from french) "Error in communication with master DP" this IM153-1 is linked on a bus with 2 others IM153-1 this bus is connected to the via an interface RS485/optical fibers to the S7-400. The 2 other Im153-1 in this segment are working perfectly So my first test was to swap the DB9 probifus connector beetween the IM153-1, the error was still there. In my office there is some spare parts, (not new but working at 100%) so I took an IM153-1 put the same Profibus ID (24) and replace those in the plant... Now the error is "Effective structure is different than those programmed" , and now I'm blocked I do not know how to resend the configuration from the S7-400. Thanks for all your help. Hello Emmerson Fonito, when you have any problems you should always read event buffer of your CPU. The information you get there is more detailled. When you exchange parts, you have to keep in mind that HW-configuration is part specific. Especially when you change a newer against an older module you are likely to experiance problems. Now you will either have to change HW-configuration for changed module to what you have put there an download. Or, depending on your module, you could check if you can upgrade your module to newer by downloading different firmware. You can check in HW-catalog what the differences between the modul there and the replacement module are. Did you already try to change back to original module? If yes, did error still resume? If you have enough spare parts, you could also create a small test project where you integrate the changed IM 153-1, do the HW-configuration and then see if error would be in test project too - to be sure its really the module. regards

I'm thinking that I'm totally wrong in the procedure to replace the module (by the same part #), is there anyway a complete tutorial for doing that? There us nothing special regarding replacement. Switsh off the power, replace the module and power on... Are the MLFB number of both modules the same? (6ES7 151... Best regards, Hristo Mihalev

Emmerson Fonito Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Thank you for your help, Sure I set the same profibus address (24) by setting the same dip switch. My two modules share the same code: 6ES7 153-1AA03-0XB0 This is my main HW Config screen, except the #24 all off Profibus host are normal since they are switch on by the main program. Fafner Silver Member Joined: 3/20/2013 Last visit: 12/18/2025 Posts: 676 Rating: (44)	hey emmerson, at which point are you at the moment? got your old im back in the project? to summon it up: you had working project for two weeks, then a communication error occurs. Was it possible to get over the error by restarting the plc? Where some changes before the error occured? regarding the replacement: had both im153-1 the same firmware version? you will get the "different modules" warning if you insert a modul with lower FW than projected.
