Also, Can ET200S Profinet IO be used? If so, are there any other things to be aware of? Hi, It is possible to use the PN-CPUs but you couldn't use the PN-port yet to communicate between the two CPUs. So you have to communicate between the two CPUs on another way. MPI might do the job but then it is not possible to use PROFIBUS DP.... For the redundant I/O ET 200M have to be used because the redundancy could only be made with the redundancy bundle.

Binuxx Advanced Member Joined: 10/8/2012 Last visit: 12/9/2025 Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Dear Colleagues, Since the new Profinet functionalities had been implemented there is possible to use I device + Shared device functionality for software redundancy purposes - with some limitations. I suggest to build up configuration based on two 317 PNor 319 PN CPUsas master/standbyand IM151-8 programmable slaves instead of IM151-3 PN coupler slaves. In this case there is pretty easy to develop a small framework in slave CPUs (IM-151-8 CPUs), which handles the failure detection and changeover functions, and also easy to build up a small function for synchronization handling in main CPUs (3xx PN CPUs). If You are interested in it, I can send some template config/codes Best regards, János
