S7 200 as Modbus master-accessories for connection

I am planning to use one CPU 224XP as modbus master which it will be connect with three Control Techniques drives (which keep up Modbus RTU 2W(two wire)) and one Operater panel. I read on forum that for programming in MicroWin I must have some Modbus master library? Can someone have this library? And the second, which connectors can I use for this bus? And cable, of course? Helmut_13 Posts: 2930 Rating: (432)	Hi, there are actually two way to use ModbusRTU with S7-200. 1. Modem EM241 The modem module EM241 supports ModbusRTU Master/Slave communication via analoge telephone line 2. ModbusRTU Master/Slave for the onboard PLC interfaces. To use it you need the STEP 7-Micro/WIN instruction library. The instruction library is a optinal SW pack for STEP 7 Micro/WIN. It contains: + ModbusRTU Master for Port 0 and 1 + ModbusRTU Slave for Port 0 + USS protocoll for Port 0 and 1 The ordernumber is: 6ES7 830-2BC00-0YX0 Price in EU ~100€ You can install it on you prgogramming PC/PG and you can use it with out limitation. An update for MW will also automatically update the library if the MW SP contains new feature for the Library. I hope this helps. Regards Helmut

Hence, my interest in the subject. Firstly can anyone please elaborate on point no. 1 above? How is the h/w setup at the remote end? Does the Modbus RTU, Step7 - Micro/Win library work for the Modem sol'n? Secondly, the only PPI interface on the CPU224 is being used for an OP. Is it possible to add an additional h/w interface to the CPU to use with the Modbus RTU, Step7 - Micro/Win library? I hope someone will know the answers to these questions - much appreciated. Helmut_13 Posts: 2930 Rating: (432)	Hi Ragud, the ModbusRTU Lib for the onboard interface only works at PLC ports. ModbusRTU Slave only for port0 ModbusRTU Master for Port 0 and 1 But you can use a EM277 (S7-200 Profibus Slave module) and connect your HMI (Siemens HMI) to it. I hope this helps. Regards Helmut

That's mean that I have two master on network. I make one analogy with profibus DP protocol where I use, for example, S7 300 CPU 315-2DP, as master, several DP slaves and one or more panels which is masters (in Wincc flexible I configure communication where is allowed that the panel is master). Someone, maybe, will say that I can use the second port (port 1) for master slave, but that port is planned for connection tomodem (GPRS Sinaut MD 720-3). Thank you in advance. Zoran
