IE General dissapears from Component Configurator

Zenon_EMEA Posts: 42 Rating: (5)	Hi everyone, When we configure a PC station (with WinCC or WinAC RTX) we insert also IE general (usually in Slot 4) either bound to the WinCC Application in Slot or the WinAC in Slot 2. Problem, from time to time communication stops and if we open the station configurator Slot 4 is empty and therfore communication has stopped. This happens not on specifig events and the Diagnosis tells that the IE has been removed. After restart of the PC everything is back to normal. We have this situation on any brands of NIC´s and we can not see any specific event, who might have caused this. At the moment we use the latest SimaticNET, but we have had this also with earlier releases of SimaticNET Any Ideas?? Thanks, Markus

One was the latest WinCC V6.2 SP2 with SimaticNet 2007 with HF and the other was a Microbox 427B out of the Box with WinAC RTX 2007 SP2 and SimaticNet 2007 with HF. A formercollegue who worked there as well, got the same problem with his WinCC a day later and when we talked to our sources within the Automation area we got this issue confirmed. We also filled a case with the support, but none of the answers and solutions matches our problem. If the Network Card is reconfigured this might happen, but none of us did, while the systemswas in test run. Also if the xdb gets corrupted or accidantly overwritten by a download. Even the Diagnosis tells us nothing, but that the IE-general has been removed. No Reason or fault entry. So I thought if I post it here, I will get more information what might be the cause, as well as there might be more guys who had the same issue and found the problem. Markus

Janac Posts: 134 Rating: (11)	i tried it, it works. but it would be good that we can do it with older versions of Simatic NET, maybe like some HOTFIX for these versions. How can I update Simatic net to veresion 2008 If I installed Simatic NET 2006 with WinCC 6.2.2 ? Will it work?

They will tell you to update to the latest version which supports the feature you are looking for. The Problem with WinCC will be that only certain SIMATIC NET versions are tested with certain WinCC versions. To check which one works for you read this FAQ: With what are SIMATIC WinCC V5.x, V6.x and V7 compatible? I hope it will help you. Best regards J_Bell
