Machonish Posts: 64 Rating: (0)	Hi all, Here am using PCS7 v7.0 with HF2. In one of my project third party software need some data from PCS7. I configured PCS7 OPC DA Server in ES. My problem is that server is get connecting when i tried to connect it in OPC Scout , its not getting connected, it showing errors. Anybody having idea about configuration of PCS7 OPC DA Server, as am not having much idea about it. Please help me regarding this. Thanks in advance

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello machonish, I have to admit these information’s you provided to us are too view to determine what in detail and where the problem appeared. You mention that a OPC Client could connect to the OPC Server but the OPC Client by SIEMENS could not, this is very strange to me. Is it possible that you use the Software on different PCs? Do you see any specific error message? If you use another PC you have to use DCOM, which has to be configured on each PC. To configure DCOM at your PC you need to use: How can you clear the error message "Download (310:88)"? For example. You also may use the OPC Foundation white paper for DCOM settings, these are publicly available. I am sorry for not being able to help you more, but without detailed information a detailed answer is not possible. Best regards J_Bell

I cross checked the errors it shows Run status of OPC Server in Station Configurator, DCOM settings in dcomcnfg. Evrything is correct. By the way, have you ever tried to open, maybe just for a test the SIMATIC NET OPC Server you see listed? Best regards J_Bell

Hi Cumulus Yes I already configured the steps what that OPC Foundation document given. Also here i followed the same steps before i used in OPC.SimaticNET, is there steps are different for OPC.SimaticNET and PCS7.OPCDAServer??. Anyone have any document about Open PCS7??

Machonish Posts: 64 Rating: (0)	hi wisth, Before this i contacted one Senior consultant from Siemens USA. He told me to follow some steps reagarding Open PCS7. I didnt tried it yet. If u get success by following it, please let me know here or mail to eajasahammed@kalkitech.in Steps are as follows The Open PCS 7 OPC DA server is relatively easy to install and configure You install Open PCS 7 from the PCS 7 DVD on a PC that has no Siemens software at all or a PC that has an OS client on it as well. (You need an Open PCS 7 license, there are two types and you must select the correct onedepending on the choice above) Then you go into the PCS 7 project and you add a PC station, also when Open PCS 7 runs on a PC that also has an OS client you must create a separate PC station for Open PCS 7 (you can not configure an open PCS 7 and OS client in the same PC station) Then you link the Open PCS 7 object to the selected OS Servers (Open PCS 7 only works on a Client-Server system), you do this the same way as you link an OS client Then you go to the properties of the Open PCS 7 object and you select a download path. this path has no relation to anything you configured for the PC station, you do not need to download or configure the PC station, you must only download the Open PCS 7 object 9after you set the path) You will find that, what ever subdirectory you choose on the target PC, while configuring the donwload path, Open PCS 7 will always download to a dedicated directory on the target PC. Then you download the Open PCS 7 object, this takes < 20 secs Then you bring your client-server system in Run-time and you should be able to browse OPC items on the "PCS 7 OPC DA server" that you will find on the PC where you downloaded open PCS 7 to
