So I configured it like it is written in the online Help (without configuring a OPC channel (I do not know if this is necessary). Everythning looks fine, but how is the information of a connection configured in WinCC. If I take a look at the standaard script behind the objects witch are generated in the standaard picture I can not see where he gets the information for the device state from. The only code I can find witch is making contact to a tag is: strcpy (szDeviceName, GetPropChar(lpszPictureName,lpszObjectName,"tagname")); dwData = GetTagDWordState(szDeviceName, &dwState); if ( dwState & DM_VARSTATE_NOT_ESTABLISHED \|\| dwState & DM_VARSTATE_HANDSHAKE_ERROR \|\| dwState & DM_VARSTATE_HARDWARE_ERROR \|\| dwState & DM_VARSTATE_ADDRESS_ERROR \|\| dwState & DM_VARSTATE_INVALID_KEY \|\| dwState & DM_VARSTATE_ACCESS_FAULT \|\| dwState & DM_VARSTATE_TIMEOUT \|\| dwState & DM_VARSTATE_SERVERDOWN ) But where is this tag in the tagmanagement. Do I have to do something more besides configuring the lifebeatmonitoring? Do I have to make a channel of some sort? How does the system get the diagnostic data from a device? As for your other question: It seems to me that the devicename should be listed within the script. And the devicetype should be "status". Did you enter a devicename within the lifebeat monitoring editor? with regards, Ikkezelf

Seems to me that Or it uses an already configured tag Or just creates one new for the lifebeat monitoring. Or is wincc that smart and does itnot need a tag for it? I haven't used the lifebeat monitoring myself, I just use the tagquality of an external tag that I configured myself. Butwhen Salma or Nemo don't know the answer, then I will try and set it up over here and see what it does. with regards, ikkezelf

Salma Posts: 1398 Rating: (151)	Unfortunately I've not used Lifebeat Monitoring. It looks like you have to configure the OPC connection with a tag containing the computer name but I could be completely wrong ! However as it's a part of PCS7, Nemo should be able to help with this one. You could also try posting on the PCS7 forum. Just be sure to update this post with the solution when you get it [:)]

With your input I have found the answer and the solution for my problem: If you add a device in the Lifebeatmonitor with e.g. the name "AS1" and select a connection over witch the server will communicate. The lifebeatmonitor makes a @AS1 tag in the channel of the connection [:o]. This is the tag witch is needed for the state of the connection. Nice [8)]!! Thank you all, Jaap
