Sending/receiving SMS with MD720 / S300 /CP315 2DP / CP 340

kurtpep Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	Hello! First, excuse my quite bad english. My name is Pierre; I'm a student in automation. I'm actually in a training period at "Centre Spatial de Liège" in Belgium. I'm trying actually to work the MD720-3 modem for the sending/receiving SMS. I'm using a CP340 to communicate with the modem and a SIM card including CSD data service. I've downloaded the documentation as well as the examples programs on Siemens website...I've tried all of them. I've scrupulously followed thes docs but nothing works. I'm sure that my HW configuration is good. The modem is initilizing, the Pin code is OK but when I set a bit to "1" to send a SMS, the "SEND" bit go to "1" but the "SENT" one stay at "0". The n_status bit stay at 1004 (=sening error). Same problem with the receipt. When I send a SMS to the modem (with my phone), the "SMS_receive" bit go to "1" and the n_status stay at "1003" (receiving error). So, my first question is: Are those sample programs functional ?? My second one: Does anyone else had the same problems ? Best regards //

I guess you have the Configuration 10 which can be found at: Sending and Receiving SMS Messages with S7-300/400 via serial CPs (340/341/441-2) and the GPRS/GSM Modem MD720-3 (Configuration 10) If this is the case did you try Application & Tools conference at General Conferences yet? This conference allows discussions about this Configuration too. So maybe you get some help if you post your question there: Configuration 10 Maybe it is worth the try. Best regards J_Bell

jklm Posts: 1742 Rating: (309)	Hello, be aware that the examples that can be downloaded are written for the CP341. You have to replace the FB100 and some other FBs in the sample project by the blocs in the SMS_library (project called SMS_BL_1). In that library project you will find folders for the CP340, 341 an 441. Another point is that the MD720 works standard with 19200 bps. But the sample is configured in HWconfig to run at 9600. With hyperterminal you can set the correct speed using an AT command AT+pri=9600

OldSchool Posts: 18 Rating: (0)	I used the same code last year for a project and was able to get it working with some help from a colleague. The biggest thing that had me fouled was the cable listed in the documents gave a part number for a null modem cable. I ended up changing the cable to a straight thru cable and was able to get it working. The error codes are return variables and you will have to read the code to see which step was being executed. I wil try to strip my project down and post.
