Sinumerik 840c PLC communication

While connecting to PLC it show "undefined character from AS" in S5 Programming Software. Standard RS232C25pin to 9pin cable was used for communication. Is there any problem with my cable? OvidiuNastac Posts: 419 Rating: (19)	Hi The problem is that the Siemens SIMATIC S5 PLCs are programmed via a TTY serial interface (called also 20mA Current Loop). To connect a PC, which is normally equiped with RS232 ports, a converter is therefore required. You can try to find one on the internet or you can try to bild you one. I bought myself a cable from Siemens but I've not managed to comunicate with the PLC 135 WD (which is a buildin PLC)with my laptop, so I was forced to borrow a PG. If you can do it please tell me how. By the way, the newest PC have a simulated RS232 not a real one. If you have an old laptop (with a real RS232 port) you can use it. Best Nit
