Indexing Thru arrray//indirect addressing

BLS Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Is it possible to index thru an array, or a UDTin the S7-1200, or any way to do any type of indirect addressing. Currently ST is not availible and no STL in site and am looking for options. dont want to have to do this...#My_Data[1] rather do #My_Data[Index] Any thoughts?

And I'm sorry to find out, that this options is currently not avaible. So, an array makes no sense at this time. But somebody from siemens told me, that Siemens is working at an option to get "indexing" through an array. Maybe we should wait till first Service Pack or something like that.

RPvM Posts: 22 Rating: (0)	Hi, In my opinion indirect addressing is a MUST for the S7-1200 to be a serious replacement for the S7-200. The S7-200 had a simple but very useful way of indirect adressing. Probably the S7-1200 will get a way of indirect addressing like the S7-300/400. This is somewhat harder to use, especially when no STL is available I wonder what kind of solution Siemens will come up with. I heard that SCL will be supported as well for the S7-1200. That would solve some of the issues. But indirect addressing of single bits will still be troublesome then. Probably we'll have to be patient and wait untill the S7-1200 range becomes somewhat more mature. I hope so, because despite all critics, the concept of a small/cheap PLC with ethernet communication onboard is a promising concept.
