Fire detector in s7-400 system

AVSRAMESH Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	One my collegu eis proposing S7-400F/H system for Fire & Gas stsem. I have few questions, can any body help me. 1. Is it posible to connect Fire detectors, Manual call points to s7- 300 singnal modules, 2.is it possible toconnect end of line resistor for open and short circuit, to monitor the instrument failure. Can any body suggests thread which this has been done earlier with Siemens systems. Regards RAM

JMJ Posts: 487 Rating: (45)	In my understading Fire and Gas systems are SIL rated systems. And depeding on the code for the geographical and industrial area, the SIL level requirements are varied. Keep in mind that such systems are not just designed like normal ones, you need to perform many procedures like safety analysis techiniques before you can complete the system design. Siemens safety PLCs support some SIL level applications.

Aret Posts: 2348 Rating: (265)	Not neccessary. For example in my country Siemens S7-400 modules HAVE "Fire certificate", although SIL standarts are not applied. So everything depends - you should contact your local Siemens representatives and ask them.

Ruben66 Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	It can be done (I did it in two gascompression projects). But some analog detectors have special functions below 4mA. As that means that our I/O mudule passivates the input. Also there a lot of (digital) smoke and heat detectors which are NOT working failsafe.
