TCP connection in different subnet

leomauro Experienced Member Joined: 5/10/2006 Last visit: 5/27/2025 Posts: 19 Rating: (0)	Dear All, I need to make a TCP connection between a CP 343-1 Lean and other station with IP address in different subnet: CP 343-1 Lean (194.0.0.1), Other Station (194.1.0.3) through a router with IP address (194.0.0.3) If I entered this address, at compile time I get the following message: "Error: SIMATIC 300\CPU 314 : 0001 A050: The connection endpoints have different subnet addresses. Either change the addresses or use routers.". I can not change the IP addresses, and I don't know where and how to enter the router. Any help? Regards Mauro Attachment Network.jpg (513 Downloads)

smiffy Platinum Expert Joined: 1/17/2007 Last visit: 11/20/2025 Posts: 1561 Rating: (540)	You will need to specify that you want to use a router in the CP properties, which are accessed through the hardware configuration. Open hardware configuration, then double click on the CP, then select the properties button shown on the general tab. This will open another window called "Properties - Ethernet interface XXX". Select the Parmaters tab. On here you will see a use router check box. Check it and put your router address in the address box provided (in your case 194.0.0.3). See attached picture. In your case the the subnets 192.0.0.X and 192.1.0.X Like this _______Router_________ 192.0.0.1------------------192.0.0.3 < > 192.1.0.1--------------------192.1.0.3 The best configuration will be _______Router_________ 192.0.0.3------------------192.0.0.1 < > 192.1.0.1--------------------192.1.0.3 So you have to configure two diferents subnets in your router, by the way, wich router do you have? At the moment I have not this information, the router is provided by the customer. You know any router that can configured two diferents subnets? Thanks and best regards

gcor Posts: 34 Rating: (2)	Hi leomauro, All the routers can do it, because that is the main feature of them. If the device cannot do it, probabley you are talking about a switch Just in case, if you use the router Scalance X-400/Cisco/Enterasys, I can guide you with the configuration. Regards
