Alarm or tag logging hangs at about 6% when trying to startup

LMER Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	WinCC 6.0 SP3: When enabling alarm or tag logging for runime startup,the startup procedure is stopping at usually 6% of the alarm logging startup sequence. It just stays there. First there is disk activity and then nothing more happens. Everything starts up and runs normal if tag/alarm logging startup is disabled again. The Windows Message Queuing is installed (and reinstalled) and started. I can't find anything in the logs referring to alarm logging problems. Please help! Regards

Salma Posts: 1398 Rating: (151)	Several things to try: · Regional settings should be English(US) and not English(UK) (assuming you are using English ! ) · Try disabling any anti-virus software if installed. · Ensure that the Simatic Shell system folder in Windows Explorer is correctly displaying your local projects and networked machines. Also make sure your IP address is set correctly in here. · Try a new project to see if that works. · If feasible, try deleting all runtime data - open the editors, go to Archive Configuration, right-click and select Reset to delete all historical databases.

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	That has happened to me in the past! Sometimes simply restarting the computer does the work... sometimes I've actually had to turn it off and back on later... Was WinCC shut down due to any problems in the last time? I'm assuming there are no compatibility or computer comfiguration issues... I started having troubles getting in runtime when my computer had about 10 different automation softwares and hadn't been formatted in over a year and a half, formatting the computer worked, off course...

Also created a new project with US English but no success. - Norton Antivirus is installed and I tried to disable. No success. - Simatic Shell system folder seems to display everything OK. - New project after all settings above applied. Still same problem. - I have rebooted and that makes no difference. - I do have many automation programs installed and that could of course be a problem. The latest updates and service packs are applied to Windows (2000) though. So, I still have the same problem and are happy to try any other suggestion to get it work. Thanks so far :) Regards

Ikkezelf Posts: 1084 Rating: (72)	Hi, I had this as well a time ago. What i did to resolve it, was to delete the <project name>.dcf file (not during runtime !). After that I restarted wincc (wincc automatically generates a new .dcf file). This resulted in the alarm logging able to start normally. BUT, You said you already tested with a new project and then this should not be the solution for you, but lust a suggestion to keep in mind for an other occasion. The suggestion about installing winxp is a good one, but you could also take re-installing wincc into consideration. with regards, Ikkezelf
