Profibus is possible, but also MPI or serial PPI cable (not USB) are also possible. Have to configurate your S7ONLINE access point at PG/PC interface according to what you have. If you have hardware, then please try it ;) regards

We are communicating quite happily with the S7 224 CPU through a USB MPI cable, but are struggling to talk to the HMI. Which cable should we be using? (the programming PC is a laptop, and doesn't have "true" serial ports)

It talks to the CPU fine, but the HMI does NOT talk MPI, only PPI - according to the Siemens website, and our own attempts with the cable we have. If there is a way around this, please let me know. (the HMI is a TP177B Micro, not a standard TP177B)
