Mohamed Asharaf Posts: 40 Rating: (1)	One of our machine(packing machine) need 24 outputs for its complete operation by LOGO. But we cannot operate it by a single Logo. Can you please advise me,can I expect a LOGO logic module with more input and output soon..

cdrshort Bronze Member Joined: 9/6/2008 Last visit: 3/29/2024 Posts: 134 Rating: (16)	in some cases you can "split the operation" and use the last output and make it input at a second logowho could handle some final steps .of corse this make the money goes. or you can chose a s7-2xx who could keep the price in beter condition. but all this depent how the machine need to operate! i have done something similar in a batching plant (asphalt ) use one logo for prepare the stuf before the mixing ( agregates and bitumen are in silo and come by hoopers and pumps to thebalances)and the second logo for the mixing- discharging-and storage the final product! i dont think that siemens will increase theIO of logo at least! best luck!

LOGO!Barbarian Posts: 173 Rating: (95)	Hi all you I/O hunters! I have investigated this myself. Even when you put the maximum expansion modules, the software does not give the last 4 digital outputs to use in a program. The reason is the way in which the LOGO! reads the expansion modules - the protocol and 'back-plane-bus' using a type of telegram. If this telegram format is changed for more I/O, then all older expansion moudles cannot be used anymore. Siemens is always making statements about BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY and for the LOGO!, if there is a new Base Module (CPU), then you only have to change that and not all the expansion moudles. This saves a lot of people a lot of money. The same for the LOGO! programming cable - you cna still use the same cable from 0BA0 to even program a 0BA6! USB and all other kinds of connectors were not available in 1996 when the LOGO! came out, so Siemens made their own cost effective one and stayed with it - that is why they do not have another ki9nd of connector or port. Same reason for the extra outputs! Maybe a future version that cna be networked ?!?!?! Aaaaarrrggghhh!
