S7-315F Safe. Expected cycle time.

CMallet Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Hello I hope that I'm doing something bad, to be able to solve the problem that I have. On my production line, I have a S7-315F with a safe program on OB35 -> FC1 -> FC2. The total length is around 50 Netzwerke with standard FB for doors and emergency and some logical instructions. Now, the standard program time is 20ms, like similiars PLCs. But for the safety program, the cycle time is 60ms, then the total is 80ms....too long. My question is, What is the normal time for a safety program? I expected 2 or 3ms when begin this project!!! And, this is my problem. For this line, I need a OB35 working with a set of 15ms. This is a line requirements to read a faster pulses....I cannot work without this function. Best Regards Joan

jklm Posts: 1742 Rating: (309)	Hello, The duration of a safety program can be estimated by using the S7cotia table (Excel sheet). The sheet can be downloaded here: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/25412441 You will see that the result is dependent of the CPU type. May be is a faster CPU the solution. In any case, try to reduce the size of the safety program to the strict safety related functions.

I was checked it with the S7Fcotia.xls and now I see the time...according the CPU. Unfortunately, I have the 315F 6FF01, the slower CPU. Now, I'm go to change the CPU to faster, 6FF04 or 317 or 319. But, I have a doubt. The Safe I/O are wired to ET200S with four modules 4/8 DI and two modules 4FDO. On the Excel Fcotia, I find two lines for this kind of modules - Passivate the entire module - Passivate the chanel What line must I use? or, does it depend on configuration? and then, How must I configurate for faster? Dear CMallet, Which line you have to use depend on the setting in the HW-configuration of the module -> Parameters -> Module parameter -> Behavior after channel faults The 'passivate the entire module'-setting is faster. When I was changed the CPU, from 6ES7-315F-6FF01 v2.6 to new 6FF04 v3.0 I can do some actions. - First, program the safety program on OB35 set to 100ms - Second, how this new version of CPU has activated 4 cyclic OB, I set the OB34 to 15ms and program the monitoring task. - Third, this new CPU is very faster than the v2.6. Then all programs run faster, including the Safety Integrated application. - Really, the long time is due to safety I/O control. I dont understant why, but it is so. Now, I'll can use in the future the Safety integrated. Thanks all CMallet
