Sam. Posts: 63 Rating: (0)	Dear All, In WinCC, RT tags info is available, what if these values needs to be access by other tools and application. Is it possible to read online (RT) values from SQL server directly or indirectly ? Sorry for my words, as I am new in database handling. Please guide to overcome this situation. regards,

Jura Experienced Member Joined: 1/17/2007 Last visit: 11/14/2025 Posts: 69 Rating: (0)	SQL WinCC data are encripted (or somthing similar), you will need connectivity pack to read those data out. If you need RT data, you can read it out through OPC and then store it to the SQL.

Sam. Posts: 63 Rating: (0)	@Jura and @ daga - Thank you for your reply and sharing the possible solutions for my requirement. But your solution will add the cost, to my project, need to go for licensing of either OPC client or WinCC Add-on Industrial package. In mean time I searched WinCC literature, I found using VBScript we have an option to export the RT data to MS Access with some ODBC connections. (help file title is "Example: Configuring a Database Connection with VBS") Now my question to you all is - is there any Licensing needs to be done for this in WinCC, as my requirement is only to export RunTime values and not Archived data ? And also I am sure someone may have tried this option, so how reliable it will be to export RT data ? What are possible obstructions in doing this ? I hope experts come forward to share their experience. regards,

Jura Experienced Member Joined: 1/17/2007 Last visit: 11/14/2025 Posts: 69 Rating: (0)	OPC DA (data access - RT data ) is free of charge and already active on WinCC RT, you just need to connect to WinCC. the problem is that RT data must be exported in RT - throug OPC for example. They cannot be read from SQL server - because they are already archived data at the moment of reading from SQL server ;) And for this reading you need a licence.

The Mack Posts: 63 Rating: (39)	Dear Sam, Here i enclosed a complete ODBC code. open vbs editor in wincc, create a new action and paste this code in it set a trigger timer as per your data requirement, e.g. 5 sec, 10 sec now open your administrative tool in control panel select ODBC and create a new data source named as you like in User DSN double click on it and selece your database, be careful that the database must in access 2003 format(.mdb) also creat a colum in access database as you specify in VBS code Attachment ODBC TABLE3 CODE.zip (1489 Downloads)
