anhvu.phu Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi I installed PCS7 verson 7.1. After that, i can creat a new project but I have a problem opening an excisting project. Each time I trie to do this, WinCCExplorer gives the following message: Cannot open WinCC project - Project Manager for configured WinCC Server is not running - Start Project Manager for configured server I uninstalled and reinstalled PCS7 but not success. Has anyone an idea what is going on? The software is running on a Windows Vista business, and Windows XP 2002 Service Pack 3 also If you can, Please send idea to my email: anhvu.phu@gmail.com Best regards, Anh vu

BruceRicker Posts: 1 Rating: (2)	I got this error after copying a project to a Windows 2003 Server with WinCC 7.0 SP1. I resolved the isuse as follows: 1) Moved the Projekt to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Siemens\WinCCProjects 2) Recursively removed the Read Only attrubutes (at some point the project was on a CD and this attribute wanders along untill explicitely removed.) 3) Recursively removed the "Compressed" property. Then the project loaded without a hitch.

Lock mechanisms in WinCC prevent projects from being opened during a long-lasting process.A lock mechanism takes effect each time a WinCC project is opened. The text file "ProjectOpened.Ick" is created in the project directory.A second lock mechanism takes effect when ● An OS is downloaded from the SIMATIC Manager ● A WinCC project is duplicated using the Project Duplicator The text file "wincc.lck" is created in the project directory.If this process has not been correctly closed, due to program abort or rebooting of the PC for example, the opening lock is retained. The project directory contains the text files "ProjectOpened.Ick" and "wincc.lck" with a readable process ID. If all processes are completed, you can delete the files "ProjectOpened.Ick" and "wincc.lck".

Is there another way to try to open the project? what about the databases? Best regards.... If there aren't any mdf/ldf files in your project directory, than you have a big problem. Did you already try to open the project with Project Duplicator and see the results? Maybe you can take a screenshot of your project directory to show us which files are inside the main directory?
