Data Block Initialised on Power Outage

This morning when trying to start we found that all the data blocks in one PLC had been initialised loosing all our settings. Luckly I backed up all our programs last week, so we were able to re download. However I am wondering why the blocks would initialise from just a power outage? We have lost power before and this has not happened? Does anyone have any possible ideas as to the cause and any solutions to stop it from happening again?

All theDB's that lost data do not have the "non-retain" check so there fore they should be retentive. The power outage was only for an hour. We have lost power previously and not lost data so this has got me confused. Cheers Tina

If CPU detects any error while booting after losing power, it will go into stop mode. Using the switch to put it back into RUN mode is Cold Restart which causes the CPU to initialize its DBs. CPU will copy all default values into RAM. For replacing the default values, you have to execute "Copy RAM to ROM" through Simatic Manager. Regards, Behnam www.sigmaprocess.ca
