ignacio85 Posts: 19 Rating: (0)	Hello, I'm trying to get into OPC communications with SIMOTION D425 PLC. I'm testing an application in my computer where I have installed all SIEMES software (Step 7 and SIMATIC NET). Everything is running correctly, I get connected to the PLC by telling ñy application the IP adress and reading the variable adapted to OPC communication. If I try to use it in a clean computer (with no SIEMENS software install) I achieve to connect to the PLC but I can't read the variables.. My question is, Do I need always to install a OPC server on my computer to communicate with the PLC? Do I can communicate with a OPC clilent and some dll in concret? In that case, do you know any free cllient that could help me? Thanks, Ignacio Martinez

The problem is I don't have the source code of this application so I cannot not hoz it's done. Is it possible to develop an application that connects directly to the OPC server of SIMOTION without needing an OPC server installed on my computer? Does anyone know the name of this server? And the syntax of this server to get acces to the variables? Regards, Ignacio

When I try to ask the list of OPC servers to SIMOTION I can't read it. However I achieve to read the list of OPC server on my computer where I have installed OPC siemens XML and OPC SimaticNET, Anyway I would like to develop an application which need no OPC server installed in the computer.
