redundancy of AO module through MTA for AO mudule

umair Posts: 81 Rating: (1)	Dear Experts, I have a redundant 400 H system with distributed I/O;s connected through Redundant IM 153-2,the problem is that for AO module is the switch of signal of AO modules(RED)through MTA will drop the output to 50% mean drop the mA to 50% when switching between redudant AO signals through its MTA,is there any possibility for reducing the witching time and working in PCS7

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	Hi umair, My observation is the value falls to half (when one channel in the redundant pair fails) for about 1.5 times the scan cycle. To reduce this time process the required AO in a faster scan cycle. This should be required only for very few cases since for most valves/actuators the drop is acceptable because of the inherent inertia. Regards

umair Posts: 81 Rating: (1)	thnaks for the reply I know that the power drops to half when remove the redundant card but the recover time is about 40ms.The fastest OB is OB37 having 10ms execution time but do we need to call all the related blocks for AO module in that OB if we are working in PCS7 because we also have a channnel driver block also.

Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	There are two things to be done: a) Process the entire analog output module (all channels) in a PIP which is updated in the OB37 cycle. b) Call the related channel drivers in OB37.

umair Posts: 81 Rating: (1)	I already did that but still the same problem,I think this is least we can do and you are right about the inertia factor but actually its a fuel control valve and the mA from AO card sometime not stable so the valves also vibrating because of the little up and down value of the mA or may be its too sensitive. Phantom75 Posts: 2661 Rating: (279)	Hi umair, There are certain applications wherethe speed of reponse of thetraditional ET200M with MTA will not be enough because of the (cheaper) design. Even if youprocess everything in the fastest OB theAO module itself will have its own response timein the order oftens of milli seconds.So in these cases you'll have to look for "special" (and most likely expensive) solutions like AddFEM for example.
