The Bar Code reader that I'm using is by Honeywell.

Configure a string tag in DB of PLC and tie that that to an IO field on the HMI.

All you have to do is connect the bar code reader to the USB port of HMI and point(tap on the IO field) on an IO field on the Touch Panel and scan the bar code.

probably yes, it can act as Keyboard input stream via USB. Also some post before in this topic also talking about this solution. Somewhere in Communication conference this situation was mentioned, try look for it.
