nishu Posts: 66 Rating: (1)	DEAR ALL, I AM HAVING S7-400 FH SYSTEM IN PLANT WHICH IS CREATED USING F BLOCKS IN CFC CHART. THE PROBLEM IS THAT I AM NOT HAVING ORIGINAL BACKUP OF PROGRAM, NOW AS A FUTURE MAINTENANCE OR DIAGNOSTIC I WANT TO TAKE BACKUP FROM THE SYSTEM, I WANT TO KNOW WHETHER IT IS POSSIBLE TO TAKE BACKUP OF FH SYSTEM, ANOTHER QUESTION IS THAT WHETHER THE UPLOAD PROGRAM CONTAIN CFC CHART AND IF NOT THAN WHEN WE LOAD THIS BACKUP INTO SPARE PLC IT WORKS FINE OR NOT. ALSO GUIDE ME THE PRECAUTIONS WE TAKE WHILE UPLOAD THE PROGRAM, AS IT IS A CONTINOUS PROCESS. KINDLY HELP ME.

Amit_86 Posts: 1750 Rating: (272)	Hello, During Uploading of program,CFC Chart will not get uploaded.Instead of that you will get Standrad FB & Instance DB.So, if you don't have Original Backup with you then you cannot understand what kind of logic wrriten in CFC Chart.Even you can not troubleshoot CFC Program. Uploading the Program may not cause any effect on the Running System. I am not very sure that the same Uploaded program will work for another system.

Since it is safety program also you will need th embedded password etc. By the CFC is compiled to get normal SCL code which is then comiled to get normal FC,DB etc. No way can somebody go through so many layers of softwarte. Saftey Matrix try to locate your back up as with out that we will not be able to do any thing. Have fun...,

Vispute Prashant Posts: 64 Rating: (3)	Hi, Upload of any Siemens S7-400 system is possible no matter what it is. But the things varies case to case in terms of understanding. Like for your case, even if you take upload you will not be able understand and troubleshoot it so easily. Since while downloading only FB, FC, DB and DI, etc are downloaded so while uploading you will get the same back. There is utility for CFC to Block creation i.e. Compiler but there is no utility which can convert your appropriateBlock(s) to CFC or so. Rather there no such structure exists, I guess!! As per my experience, the Uploaded backup if you download then it may not work or not even CPU go in RUN. Still I doubt. Best Regards,

Hi Nishu i would like to add, when you upload the program from a Controller you will not have any sysmbolic name associated with the address. In PCS 7 when you upload the backup the FC,FB,DB created by the CFC complier will make no sense as to why the system has created and what for or which application it has created. Further more your program has Fail safe programming in it, then it is even more difficult to do. I recommend by my last post that please try find your back up. Have fun...

Let's say I have Original Backup:I have one question regarding uploading PLC program which originally programed using CFC charts or SCL. If we go online using Simatic manager and Copy the online blocks into Offline Backup project, is it going to retain CFC/SCL Language Properties or the Backup from online will be STL code; Any one can please clarify. Nishu, Sorry about your original backup. I think if you can find original backup, then you can copy online block and paste into offline backup, so you can retain all the symbols, and comments.

I have original backup, so when some Setpoint change in the Process or update some important parameters when plant running in good condition, just take a good backup, I go online with STEP7 and copy all the DB into my offline Program Block; in this way I get my most updated Data from PLC. Normally OB/FC/FB I don''''t from online PLC- I just compare them with online PLC;Most of the time they are same. Because I change in the Offline project and download them after every modification in the program.

Hinishu I tried several times to upload the software of an F-System but it takes lot of time and the uploaded project cannot be used any more. You cannot debug or monitor even by using the cross reference.
