How can you determine an APL block instance DB number

Rudi1234 Posts: 12 Rating: (1)	Hi I need to pass the instance db numbers of standard APL blocks to a shared (user) db. I want to use the instance db numbers in WinCC Flex. How can I do this?

This means that I cannot export the source file to add scl code to it. Is there maybe a way to determine the IDB number without having to add code the APL block itself?

I thought about of creating a new block, connecting a any pointer to a output parameter of the APL block and read the DB information out of that any pointer. I did a little example for you. Thisis just a proof of concept. Please considerthat he SCL block dosn't contain any failure handling. E.g. you should check if the any pointer is connected, that the any pointer could be conneted to each kind of data source... You can see the interconnections of the APL blocks to the block which is determining the instance DBs. I will attach the SCL source in the next post. Attachment GetInstanceDB.jpg (468 Downloads)

Rudi1234 Posts: 12 Rating: (1)	Hi Bob! Thanks alot! This will really help! I did however realise that in WinCC flex 2008 you can integrate your project into step7, and then access the symbols. You don't need to use the IDB numbers. That gets updated automatically. Guess I should have started with the manual... But thanks again! It's a very usefull block!
