WinLC RTX in VMWare Workstation runs slowly

delafrique Posts: 50 Rating: (5)	Hello, I'm trying out WinLC RTX in a VMWare Workstation virtual machine on my laptop. Host processor is Windows 7, guest is Windows XP SP3. WinLC seems to be working fine, the only problem so far is the system clock. On the windows side the clock runs at 1/4 of real time. In the PLC the slow down is similar, I measured a factor 3.6 I know that WinLC was not intended to run in a VM, but has anyone had a similar experience and found a work-around?

Jerommeke Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Change the HAL timer period to 1000, maybe 500 microseconds, for adequate windows clock: Programs -> IntervalZero -> RTX2009 -> RTX Properties -> System tab, Settings button ->. Suitable for test environment. Good Luck!

dvanherpen Regular Member Joined: 5/5/2011 Last visit: 6/27/2025 Posts: 2 Rating: (1)	Just tested on ESXi 5.0 , works like a charm :D You have to follow the steps for a normal virtual machine : /tf/WW/en/Posts/89078#top after that just use the vCenter standalone converter, upload the rom-file included on the previous page to your server and you're good to go. Performance is as if you're using a real machine.

I'm struggling to make WinAc work into VM vmware. I installed WinAC in real machine and works fine. Afterwards the machine was virtualized with VMware vCenter Converter and... WinAc don't work. I tried different VM configuration, 1 processor and 1 core, the WinLC don't connect and gets "rtx does not support this system platform" message error... 2 processor and 1 core, the WinLC don't start. Same with 2 processor and 1 core... I guess the solution would lie into some VM setting that I still need to grab. Any suggestion is very welcome. Thanks in advance
