HelloNavnag the Profichip EasyConnPB Plugs (VIPA and Procentec sell these too, but they simply rebadge the Profichip Plugs as far as I know)need max 30mA fortheir LED supply whichcomes from the 5V supply that is mandatory on eachdevices with Profibus DB9 connector (note that this 5Vhas nothing to do with A and B signal lines, but is also the one that is used for the active termination). Each Plug will as such also draw the max 30mA from the device it is attached (i.e.they are not in parallel on the bus). As the 5V is generated from the devices general 24V supply, it is the ultimatesupply for the LED current (at a lower current though being a higher voltage supply). On the note of them failing: I'm aware of 2 failures with the Profichip Plugs out of a a several hundreds used (e.g.my observednon representitive failure rate is well below 0.5%), but never investigated furtheras to the cause of the failure (and had other non LED Plugs fail too in the past). I suggest you inform your supplier or ideally Profichip directly about you rather high failure rate, as I'm sure they would like to know about it and investigate the cause (and let us know what they find out). |
