TP170A communication problem

MarisKu Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hello! I have used TP170A with some program. And I have laptop with WinCC flexible 2005. So the problem is that I can't connect them together. As I understand from another topics, that the standard PC adapter USB is not usable for communication. I try to use some RS232 cables, but nothing was happen. As I understand from user manual, that there are four ways how to realise communication. I need just download program from PC to TP (if it is possible, the also upload program from TP to PC). It is my first project, so I do not have experience. Maybe someone can show me cable PIN assignment diagram from TP17A to PC COM1 (RS232) or USB. p.s. sorry for my english, I am just student...

In order to transfer a project to TP170A there is need Serial RS232 (6ES7 901-1BF00-0XA0). Pin's assigment of it you can find at In oreder to take a backup you need a Prosave software. It is not possible with make it with WinCC Flex or Protool. And that kind of backup is not editable. Only is possible to restore it undere the same type of panel. Best regards, Hristo MIhalev

MarisKu Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Thanks! I found following cable: 6ES7901-0BF00-0AA0. But there is problem with male/female pins. I need to use some adapers (gender changer)? Upload from TP to PC is not the main task. The main task is to delet old TP program and download new.

Just with cable and a real RS232 interface at your pc (no convertes,...). You can also find this information at this FAQ: What is the serial cable assignment for transferring the configuration to a Windows-based device? At the panel you mustn`t delete the programm, if you download a new programm the old will be overwritten. best regards

Hello MarisKu, Please pay attention: You have found the cable 6ES7901-0BF00-0AA0 (MPI cable) But you need : 6ES7 901-1BF00-0AA0 (RS232 cable) There is just one digit different, but it means a lot The RS232 cable (6ES7901-1BF00-0AA0) has two female connectors Best regards, Wizard

The cable 6ES7901-0BF00-0AA0 is suitable for it? Is this cable suitable also for communication between CPU315 and Simatic OP3 or there is another cable? Thanks in advance, Maris

(One with PG connection socket) MarisKu Is this cable suitable also for communication between CPU315 and Simatic OP3 or there is another cable?
