HMI RT Icon stays gray after upgrade to V11 SP2

kbouwman Experienced Member Joined: 4/21/2007 Last visit: 8/12/2025 Posts: 39 Rating: (0)	I am running Windows 7 x32. I upgraded from V11 SP1 Update2 to V11 SP2. Now I don't seem to be able to use the HMI runtime feature. What could I be doing wrong?

kbouwman Experienced Member Joined: 4/21/2007 Last visit: 8/12/2025 Posts: 39 Rating: (0)	Up to this point I have always thought this was one package...first Step 7 TIA Portal V10.5 and now Step 7 TIA Portal V11 SP2. Is there a separate update for the WinCC component within TIA Portal V11 for programing Basic panels? I haven't ever needed to do this in the past.

kbouwman Experienced Member Joined: 4/21/2007 Last visit: 8/12/2025 Posts: 39 Rating: (0)	I downloaded the WinCC Basic SP2 files, installed them, compared the installed software dialog before and after (see attached picture), and found no difference. The RT icon still will not work no matter what I try. I have used it in every version of TIA Portal without problems but I can't get it to work now. Same computer, same installation, just upgraded. (Simule = run a "simulation of HMI" to test propouses; start runtime = run a WinCC Advanced PC application with operating propouses). Which HMI are you configuring?

In the past I could select the HMI in the project tree, click on the RT icon, and test the HMI programing with an online PLC. It would let my PC do the same things a real HMI would do. I noticed the new Simulation icon. Back when I worked with WinCC 2003 simulation would allow me to test the HMI program agaist a tag table but not in conjunction with an online PLC. Has this changed? Has this changed? Which software do you work? WinCC, WinCCflexible, WinCC V11? WinCC flexible You can test the project in WinCC flexible with the simulator. You have not connection to a PLC with this simulator. You have a own tag table which you can simulate your values. You can simulate your values in an own tag table of the simulator in WinCC flexible. WinCC V11 You cansimulate your project with the Runtime of the PC and the PLC simulator Tweety

With my first project I purchased TIA Portal 10.5 Basic and have been installing each upgrade as they became available. I havealways installed/upgraded on a Windows 7 x32 virtual PC. In all that time I could use the RT icon in the toolbar to emulate any of my projects HMIs. This emulated HMI would be fully functional. I have not purchased any WinCC Runtime products and don't see the need to now. I only want to emulate to troubleshoot and debug my projects. When I went from TIA Portal V11 SP1 to TIA Portal V11 SP2, I lost the ability to emulate HMIs via the Runtime feature and no one has been able to tell me why norwhat I need to doto restore this functionality.
