Fritz Y Posts: 6 Rating: (1)	I have a problem about alarm 120201 during the running of machine program. I think that the interfaces of the parts on the MPI bus may have some problem. I have checked all of them and have replaced PCU50, MCP and NCU with new ones. This alarm goes on. So I replace the MPI cable, but alarm 120201 still appears. I am in charge of more than 100 Quick Jet machine. This alarm appears not just in one machine. Some machine need to restart to make the alarm disappear while in other machines this alarm can disappear automatically 3 seconds after it appears. Please give me some suggestions. Thank you very much!

Firstly, ensure that ALL cabling is correctly installed, Use the Node address function of the HMI or remotely using S7. so that when the failure occurs, you may see which node is not addressed. I assume you have explored the possibility of transients induced into the MPI network ? Good luck SteveJ

Pee Ell Sea Posts: 672 Rating: (57)	HI, This alarm should refer only to the communication between the NCK and the HMI over the OPI bus. What is your configuration. Is the HMI connected to the NCK over its own cable to the OPI port or have you got the MCP connected on the OPI as well. Does the machine shut down when this problem appears ? Also are the HMI and NCK software levels compatible. Does it happen when any particular screen is displayed ? Has the manufacturer developed their own operator screens or is there non siemens software running or hardware installed that could be using interrupts etc. on the HMI. Is there another device on the OPI bus. Sorry lots of questions

Fritz Y Posts: 6 Rating: (1)	Hi, everyone, I am glad to say that everything is OK now. The problem comes from the 368 cable(6ES7368-3BF01-0AA0) which connects the NCU and IM361 module on the extended I/O rack. Thank you very much!

Timóteo Posts: 16 Rating: (0)	hello all I am having the same problem to. When turn on machine receave 120201 comunication failed so i can not start up the NC and PLC. The NC card was changed and since then the error remains... The MCP leds are blinking and the comunication led in the rear blink as activitie is on. The mmc103 rear 7segment display number 1 and the NC 7segment display number 6. the led for the PLC in the NC are all on ( no PLC program) Check and recheck connections but error still. Is it possible to be the NCU box? Any advice? Thanks in advance Tim

Pee Ell Sea Posts: 672 Rating: (57)	Hi, If the fault has appeared when you changed the NC card then it is probably because the card has not been initialized correctly. Clear out the plc with the 3/2 toggle on the plc switch and load standard machine data. Coms should then start OK and you will need to load machine data and plc program.

OvidiuNastac Posts: 419 Rating: (19)	Hi The 3/2 procedure means: Reset the PLC in it's initial state: 1. Set PLC start-up switch S4 to position “3”. 2. Turn NCK start-up switch S3 to position "1" 3. Perform POWER ON and hardware RESET. 4. Turn to position “2” . 5. Turn to position “3” and hold in this position (for approx. 3 second) until the PS STOP LED lights up again.. 6. Within 3 second, turn to the STOP-MRES-STOP (“2”–“3”–“2”) positions 7. Once the PS and PF LEDs are lit, turn the switch S4 to position “0” Restart the PLC: 1. Turn PLC start-up switch S4 from position “2” (STOP mode) to position “1” or “0” (RUN mode). 2.Perform POWER ON and hardware RESET. Be careful to have the corect PLC program because after that you must rewrite it into the PLC with STEP7 or with a PLC backup. Good luck Nit

juanjph Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hello everybody: I'm a new user here and I don´t have so much experience in Siemens CNC, and really I need help urgent, I have alarm 120202, after charge the files this alarm dissapear and appear the alarm 120201, I have a Siemens 840D with a Step 7-300 in the NCU I have the PS led light and in the S7-300 the led SF is light, since I turn On the main switch, I tried with the 3/2 procedure and actually I have the 2001 PLC disconected alarm, I was checking the cable and it is ok, I was exchange the S7-300 too and the alarm remain, and I don't Know that more I can to do, the files are in the HD and I tried to reload from HD, maybe my files are wrong it's possible??? May somebody help me please!!!!!
