ActivateScreen function via plc digital input

MatJ Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Hello all! I am working on a project using a TP-177B HMI and need to change screens using a digital input on a S7-300 series PLC which it is connected to. I have used the ActivateScreen function with actual HMI keys before with no problem. e.g I used the 'Press' event property to call the ActivateScreen function. The project has been setup via Step 7 v5.4 using NetPro and WinCC to setup the HMI and various tags etc needed for the visualisation. The only problem I am having is finding the correct function for allowing a screen change via the digital input - I presumed this could be done by creating a tag of boolean type for the digital input and then set another event property to call the ActivateScreen function. I have tried all the available event types (change value, high limit and low limit) with no luck! I am doing something wrong or is there some obvious way of doing this that I have missed? Have already tried help file etc to no avail, so I must be missing something! The system is configured with a Siemens S7-300 (CPU 313C-2DP) and the TP-177B HMI, WinCC flexible compact 2008 SP2 Upd12 and Step 7 Version 5.4 SP5

I have set the area pointer 'job mailbox' as described with an address set to DB51.DBW40 (DBW0 to DBW38 are already used) and defined these in the data block. I tried the MOVE instruction to modify the contents of the area pointer with 51 at address DBW40 and 3 (or 1 for a different screen) at address DBW42. This should set the screen with number 3 (or 1) when the logic is true. But I noticed this in the guide so perhaps this is not executing as intended as the logic is being executed contunously? Note: A PLC job must not be called continuously. A PLC job should not be present usually for longer than two PLC cycles. Which is the best way to go about this? The best would be to see all your code, but if you don't like to upload it here then check that you really have DBW40, DBW42, DBW44, DBW46 assigned only for HMI area pointer and you are not using those areas anywhere. Furthermore, do you see any erro on HMI when you try to execute the code in PLC for changing screen ? If not, then you can try to configure alarm view on HMI and see if you have any errors.

MatJ Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	Thanks I will take another look at the data block usage. I forgot to define words DBW44 and DBW46 in the data block maybe this is why its not working? Will try what you suggested with the alarm view (did not see any errors on HMI) as well!

MatJ Posts: 14 Rating: (0)	It was as I thought I forgot to define the rest of thye memory area in the DB. Also should note that I needed to use another MOVE instruction for the field number (I just used integer of 1 for both screens) otherwise I got the phenomenon of the egg timer popping up every 1 second from the background and then disappearing again. All working great now thanks to both of you for the help.
